FYI: The Mageia 2 RC DVD should contain both e17-themes-mageia and e17-themes-extra, with e17-themes-mageia being installed by task-e17 by default. Also we will probably exchange the default e17 theme, switching to the theme shown above, so that e17 also has the new Mageia 2 background by default.

We'd like to announce a new release of several Enlightenment components. This round we have added Eio, Ethumb, Emotion and Elementary. Please read the NEWS and README files in each release tarball for information on what has changed, fixed or added. This release also corresponds with SVN revision number 70490 .

Emotion is a library to handle video playback using Gstreamer, Xine or other external plugins (VLC) and display video in Evas as a standard object. It also can handle audio playback too. Eio is here to support Emotion with async IO API's.

Ethumb is a thumbnail generator library that supports the freedesktop.org thumbnailing standards, and is implemented as a dbus service and a client-side library that handles dealing with that service for you.

Elementary is our new widget set, built on top of the rest of EFL, to provide you with standard widgets and behaviour to make it easy to write GUI applications.

Yeah, trem also mentioned one of the earlier announcements about new development cycle to me, but it was quite late. But let's see what we can do until final freeze.

Do not worry doctor5000 , the current version of E, which is available at Mageia, works quite well.
Anyway , we use the E , are used to wait , I already took 7 years waiting for the final version of E17 or E17.1.

Impressive artwork!

I do not have much experience with Enlightenment, but I do enjoy using Eterm. It has many options one of which is a transparent background to the terminal which can be very visually pleasing with the right themes.
