[SOLVED] Install Xiphox Mageia 7.1

i am coming to Mageia from another distro and I have the need to install Xiphos (Bible software). I have been trying to find a way to search the package repos online before I actually do the install of Magegia 7.1 (which has Xfce 4.13 which is better for me than 4.16).

I have done extensive searching online but searching the repos seems to be more difficult for me for some reason. So if someone could point me in the right direction and show me what repo needs to be configured to have xiphos available I would sure appreciated it.

Also all searches on this forum turn up very old post . . .

Thank you in advance for any help offered.

This software is not available in the official Mageia repositorys. You should also consider to update from Mageia 7 to Mageia 8 because 7 will reach EOL end of June.

Hi, and welcome to Mageia

Xiphos is not available from the repos (a package request was put in in 2016 but no packager has chosen to look after it).

options for you: download the Windows version and run in wine / playonlinux or in a Windows Virtual machine

I cannot use Mageia 8 because Xfce 4.16 breaks essential plugins that I use.

Plus, I need a distro that I don't have to be updating because of bancwidth issues in the country I live in. After careful research Mageia 7.1 fits well within those params, except for not having Xiphos available.

Thank you for your reply.

Alt Linux has Xiphos:
https://packages.altlinux.org/en/p9/srpms/xiphos

PCLinuxOS:
http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/pcli ... x86_64.rpm

I'll try to see if there is a way to use packages from either of them and try it out. Or just use ALT Simply Linux:
http://ftp.altlinux.org/pub/distributio ... x86_64.iso

Thank you to everyone who replied to my question! :D

If it now is only Xiphos hindering you on Mageia, fear no more :)
It is available as Flatpak: https://www.flathub.org/apps/details/org.xiphos.Xiphos
How to use Flatpak on Mageia: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Ways_to_inst ... ms#Flatpak
