I think so. There is no news since one month, and there is no new packages since four months.

It's probably over. :(

Do not give up. :) I know i was away more than i hope. Moving with family and job was somewhat a pain but i managed to get my freedom. I' ll start working on MATE again tonight. I had to be sure some packages migration. Caja, atril etc. will be renamed as mate-file-manager, mate-document-viewer etc. I hop i can finish Mageia3 packagaging and upload to site Sunday. Thanks for your support and patience.

Hi,

I installed mate on my laptop (hp 530) from your repository, and it worked successfully. Clicking function of the touchpad didn't work automatically, so I did it as manualy. Also, it crashed when I used kde themes. I haven't see another problem.

A screenshot:

Artist of wallpaper is nmsmith. I found it on the caedes.

I am glad it for now. Thanks for great work, tarakbumba.

Thank you! All packages uploaded to repo.
Due to package naming changes and versioning changes; YOU have to completely REMOVE all MATE packages and reinstall them from repo. Otherwise your mate installation will crash.

Code: Select all
urpmi task-mate-minimal

Code: Select all
A requested package cannot be installed:
mate-themes-1.6.1-1.mga3.noarch (due to unsatisfied gtk-murrine-engine)
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n)

I removed all mate packages. I updated your repo but mate wasn't reinstalled.

Hi,

I found something very interesting. It's DockBarX. Look here. They say it's available for Mate. Source code (tarball) is here (DockbarX and Extra themes). Is DockbarX available on Mageia 3 (packages) ?

Hi,

Mate works but I've got a problem. I can't use Mintmenu. I installed mintmenu package with the dependencies (available in your i586 repository). When I try to add the Mintmenu applet on dashboard, nothing happens. I launched mintmenu in the terminal, and i've got this message : "sh: /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintMenu/mintMenu.py: no such file or folder of this type".

Can you solved this problem ?

Thanks a lot.

Note: I use a 32 bit computer.

Hi Dupo. First of all thanks for your comments on MATE. It is strange that your MintMenu problem, possibly a library path missing in rpm spec file. I'll look into it tonight. For your dockbarx request, i may package it, someday but not now due to my concentration on MATE and some other packages and lack of time.

Hi,

ok. Thanks to give us Mate on Mageia 3. ;)

Can you tell us if new packages (updates) will be available soon for your Mageia 3 Mate version ?

I don't suppose to new versions will be added; unless bug fixes. Mate is now new development versioning phase, 1.7, like GNOME does. Plus, I provide these packages using Cauldron srpms (which are committed by me) and i intend to keep these sync with Mageia 4 packages; Cauldron is about to version freeze (means no new versions will be added but bugfixes) so you should wait for Mate 1.8 and perhaps Mageia5 development.

Please re-try installing mintmenu package. It should be fixed by now.

Hi,

can you check the pubkey file in media_info directory (for i586 and x86_64 repositories) ? I think it is not correct. MCC packages manager told me that mintmenu package have an invalid signature or a missing signature. I think this file must be updated.

Thanks.

Note: About DockbarX, I saw a package named dockbarx-mate. But you can see here it's in a ppa repository : https://launchpad.net/~dockbar-main/+archive/ppa

Hi,

is someone tested media keys ? I tested a multimedia keyboard with media keys, but when I pressed volume buttons (raise volume and down volume) or Mute button, it doesn't work on Mageia 3 Mate version. Nothing happens. Is there a solution ?

Thanks.

Please check the documentation, Mate is in the repositories now:

Well, that's great news. However, it doesn't tell me if all the outstanding issues raised in this thread have been fixed. I'm fully up to date from the Mate for Mageia 3 repo and still having the issue with the "window decoration" (minimize, maximize/restore, and close buttons and the title bar) not appearing. I guess I was hoping for information on this project as a whole and didn't make that clear ;)

Please, do you see any errors in /var/log/xorg.log and ~/.xsession-errors? Copy them a pastebin and link here. I also using mate on my laptop mga3 and did not encounter this problem...

Also, where is mdm? I've noticed it isn't available and I'd rather use it over gdm or kdm.
