Correct Romanian character set

Postby Piratu » Apr 4th, '11, 14:09

Dear all,

I saw that when I choose automatic translation on Mageia's Transifex, the translations do not use the correct Romanian character set for " Ș ș " and Ț ț ". Normally they must have a comma below, not a sedilla!

Here's the list with correct Romanian characters codes in Unicode 3.0:

Ă #x0102;
ă #x0103;
 #x0103;
â #x00E2;
Î #x00CE;
î #x00EE;
Ș #x0218; comma-below - Unicode 3.0
ș #x0219; comma-below - Unicode 3.0
Ț #x021A; comma-below - Unicode 3.0
ț #x021B; comma-below - Unicode 3.0

Sedilla ones are a toxic legacy from Microsoft who unfortunately managed to confuse people till today.
Here are the WRONG ones:

Ş #x015E; sedilla-below
ş #x015F; sedilla-below
Ţ #x0162; sedilla-below
ţ #x0163; sedilla-below

So, what can be done to correct this situation?

I think you should open a bugrkeport upstream, meaning at transifex.org.
In parallel, perhaps write to the i18n ML, I know, at least some sysadmins do read it or if you are registered on the sysadmin ML as well, write there directly.
