Hi
There is a K3B Codec package available from Packman for OpenSuse (http://packman.links2linux.org/download ... 7.i586.rpm).

Are there any plans to put together something similar for Mageia 2?

Kind regards

Hi :)

If the license allows it, someone might package it.

You can file a package request for it in our Bugzilla.
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_repor ... ge_request

That'll make the chance bigger someone packages it ;)

No need to package this one, we already have all the codecs/encoders/helper programs packaged, maybe k3b just needs some suggests on those or a meta-package task-k3b-codecs which pulls all these - or something like that.

....I guess I was really looking for benefits of the packages available from packman, as these enable K3B users to configure MP3 encoding via a GUI rather than editing a line in the external sources option.

Huh? With a standard set of repositories you just need to install liblame0 - how is that much more inconvenient than installing say, k3b-codecs (which would be in the same repository, which you say you need to add, BTW) Also please don't forget on a standard openSUSE install you also need to add packman repos and install k3b-codecs, no?
Also, to generalize this, should we then offer a -codecs package for every program which does transcoding tasks?
