User contributed packages

I recently gave Mageia 2 B3 a try. Seems to me like a distribution with quite a lot of potential. I'm running it from within virtualbox with Arch Linux as host. Before Arch, I have been using Fedora for a year, so I am not unfamiliar with rpm's. However what struck me was the absence of a repository of packages contributed by users. I was missing the following packages :
- microsoft core fonts : this is something every distribution should have in it's base repository. I finally found the rpm on fedora's side and installed that. Worked like a charm.
- logitech's squeezeplay application: there is still no rpm available. I'm sure some users are willing to create a package for that.

These are just a few examples but you get the idea.

Welcome to Mageia!

To answer your question, there is no extra repo in the meaning of your question because by definition all Mageia packages are packed by users.

If you want to do packaging for Mageia do not hesitate to check into the packager team (https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Packagers_Team ). You will read all about the Mageia packaging policy, the overall system and the mentoring system.

Maybe https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Becoming_a_Mageia_Packager is a better point to start from ;)
