Libreoffice : unuseful gtk4 dependencies

Postby thealio » Oct 28th, '25, 21:29

Hi
Installing libreoffice installs also gtk4.0 and lib64gtk4_1 packages

I installed the following:
Code: Select all
sudo urpmi libreoffice-calc libreoffice-writer libreoffice-gtk3 libreoffice-langpack-it

I do not get why libreoffice has a forced gtk4 dependency , when I requested only gtk3 support , I think it's dumb & unuseful

On Arch and Debian based this does not happens

I'd like to propose to make gtk4 deps as optional only

Thanks

This is the wrong place to report this. https://wiki.mageia.org/en/How_to_report_a_bug_properly
You should also probably invest some time to check where that requirement actually comes from, as this is not manually defined in the libreoffice package.
libreoffice has one optional -gtk4 subpackage for experimental gtk4 support, and this is not the default.
