Translators, rise & shine!

Postby wobo » Mar 30th, '11, 12:41

There are lots of people who wrote their names into the translator section of the wiki, thus stating their wish to help Mageia to be localized and spread all over the world.

As it suits a community driven distribution we want to do this in teams, by collaboration we will split the load for each single translator and improve translation quality. We have started the team building process some months ago and we already have some very active and committed teams. But is still a majority of languages which are not organized. The problem is: to help translation you need to be organized as a team, even if you are only one single translator. You need to be added to the right group to be able to use Transifex, our collaboration tool for i18n. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. Your contacts are the i18n team leader and his substitute (wobo and obgr_seneca).

Transifex is now ready for use for all existing teams.

As a reminder: Translation freeze will be in early May, 5 weeks from now!

Could you pls post this in the i18n mailing list?
And pls describe exactly what you were doing (or wanting to do), so Oliver and/or misc can look at the problem.

You can go to the translator page in our wiki and look for entries in the ukranian section ( http://mageia.org/wiki/doku.php?id=tran ... #ukrainian ). Then ask them if they would do you a favor (unfortunatly we could not reach them yet).

Of course, the best motivation for them would be offering help, at least a bit.

Welcome greenskunk. Are you already on our mailinglists?

doktor5000 wrote:There are quite some listed: ...
But probably not all are active. On the other hand there are many one man teams which are very active. So the number of contributors listed there is not very correlated with quantity of translations.

On most of them there are daily some emails. You can check archive.

I didn't notice your email on i18n-discuss list. Or did you send it to another? AFAIK there is no Spanish ML list yet.

Hello friends.
Unfortunately, I think I'm one of the few who still uses the Mageia distribution in Brazil.
We had a forum that was quite busy (http://mageiadobrasil.com.br/forum/), but it was deactivated and the old users also disappeared. I've tried contacting Facebook, Transifex and email, but no response.
They could remove the link from the 'community' page and add this official forum.
I'm a translation coordinator at transifex along with maxi, but he doesn't respond either, so I think I'm alone in this. I'm reviewing the entire translation. Having reviewed everything, I will translate and add content to the wiki.
I would also like to translate the blog, but I don't know who could give me that access.

Thanks

Great you strive on :)
Does this page help? https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Internationa ... Team_(i18n)
If not, maybe you can ask doc team or other place https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mailing_lists
Have you tried to reach Otto Sa – ottosa at gmail.com - the Founder of Mageia do Brazil (per https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Local_Commun ... eam#Brazil) ?
Or other people in that list for Brazil, what do they say?

I contacted Otto and padula this morning, and as you can see, they no longer use Mageia and also no longer participate in translations.

Good night friends.
I talked to macxi today and was happy to learn that he still uses Mageia. He and I are the translation coordinators at Transifex, but he translated the blog.
Unfortunately, Mageia is not widely publicized in Brazil, especially after the Brazilian forum closed.
But macxi and I will review all translations and become more active in the community.
