''Gelöst' Drucker einrichten

Hallo, ich versuche schon seit einiger Zeit den Drucker zu aktivieren, komme aber überhaupt nicht voran. Im Moment bekomme ich die Fehlermeldung : client-error-document-format-not-supported
Was muß ich tun um das zu beheben und endlich druclken zu können?

was genau meinst du mit aktivieren? Ein Screenshot von dem wo du die Fehlermeldung siehst wäre vielleicht ganz hilfreich.
Und was für ein Drucker ist es eigentlich ?

Prinzipiell musst du im MCC einmal den Wizard für den Drucker aufrufen, Drucker auswählen und fertig eingerichtet ist der.

Hallo, mit aktivieren meine ich den Drucker an den Laptop anhängen um Druckbefehle ausführen zu können.
Es handelt sich um einen Brother MFC-J441ODW der über WLAN angebunden ist.

Den Wizzard für den Drucker aufrufen? Sorry, da kann ich nix mit anfangen!
Ich wähle neuen Drucker hinzufügen, dann stecke ich schon fest!
Ich habe alle drei varianten ausprobiert, aber ich weiß nicht welche die richtige ist
und welche Adresse ich dort angeben soll. Komme ich doch irgendwann zur Druckerauswahl
istder Drucker nicht aufgeführt......also wähle ich Generic und bekomme dann anhängende Fehlermeldung
angezeigt.

Hallo!
Wenn du das geschafft hast, was kein Hexenwerk ist, dann solltest du der Suchroutine von Linux, nach Druckern im Netz, aufhelfen.
Schau in der Fritz!Box nach der IP deines WLAN-Druckers (192.168.x.y).

Wenn du hier unter "Host" schon mal die richtige IP einträgst, dann findet auch Linux mal einen Drucker im Netz.

Also das Installieren der Treiber scheint eben doch Hexenwerk zu sein. Nach der Anleitung auf der Brotherwebsite funktioniert es jedenfalls bei mir nicht.

Du musst es dir nicht so schwer machen, du kannst auch einfach im Dateimanager Rechtsklick > Entpacken und dann Doppelklick auf das RPM, dann root-Passwort eingeben.

Lieber Doktor, es funktioniert weder das eine noch das andere! Auf der Brotherseite wird darauf hingewiesen, daß die Programme nur über eine Konsole aktiviert werden können, aber das funktioniert eben leider auch nicht. Das ist das was mich nach so vielen Jahren der Nutzung von Mageia immer wieder zweifeln und verzweifeln läßt, daß es nicht möglich ist als Laie einfach mal nen Drucker an das Gerät und zum Laufen zu kriegen. Mein Fachmann der mich sonst unterstützt hat ist weggestorben und nun sitze ich fest. Die Erklärungen gehen immer von der Kenntnis irgendwelcher Zusammenhänge oder Fachbegriffe aus und da stecke ich dann wieder in der Falle. Ich habe die Treiber nun zigmal runter geladen und versucht zu aktivieren, allein ich weiß nicht ob es gelungen ist, ob ich den Fehler bei der Aktivierung des Druckers mache oder schon bei der Installation der Treiber.......am Ende werd ich mir noch nen Windowsrechner kaufen müßen um etwas ausdrucken zu können?

Du befindest dich einfach nicht in dem Verzeichnis, in welchem du die Datei heruntergeladen hast. Deshalb schlagen die Befehle mit "Datei nicht gefunden" fehl. Einfach mit dem vollen Dateispeicherpfad arbeiten. Leider hat Jürgen auch noch zur Konfusion beigetragen, indem er nicht den Anweisungen auf der Brotherseite folgt sondern selbst was erfunden hat (was noch dazu völlig falsch ist)...


Datei linux-brprinter-installer-2.2.4-1.gz von der Brotherseite herunterladen.
Die Datei entpacken, indem du den vollen Dateispeicherpfad angibst (tausche "test" gegen deinen Benutzernamen aus [auch den Rest falls du die Datei woanders gespeichert hast]):

Daraufhin werden verschieden Dateien in den Speicherort entpackt. Jetzt wirst du zu root:

Jetzt startest du die Installationsroutine indem du den vollen Dateispfad zum Installer und dem Namen deines Druckers angibst:

Ab da kann ich nicht mehr weiterhelfen, da du die Drucker URI angeben musst (entweder dem Handbuch oder dem Druckermenü entnehmen).
