Wieder einmal begüßte mich der Bildschirm nach einem Update des NVidia Treibers (nicht des nouveau) mit einer Fehlermeldung statt des grafischen Desktop.

Das nvidia Kernelmodul ließ sich nicht installieren.

Erst ein manuelles

Code: Alles auswählen: urpme nvidia-current-kernel-3.14.27-desktop-1.mga4-331.113-1.mga4.nonfree

mit allen Abhängigkeiten

und anschließendes

Code: Alles auswählen: urpmi nvidia-current-kernel-3.14.27-desktop-1.mga4-331.113-1.mga4.nonfree

brachte Besserung.

Zumindest ist das Nvidia Kernel-Modul auch getestet worden und hat bei mehreren Testern (zumindest zwei

) einwandfrei funktioniert

Ist bei mir nach einer Neuinstallation Standard. Bei mir wird wenn ich Glück habe der nouveau-Treiber installiert. Wenn ich pech habe muß ich den nouveau-Treiber über die Rettungskonsole installieren. Anschließend werde ich gefragt wenn ich im MCC auf meine Graka klicke, die schon ausgewählt ist und mit Ok bestätige ob ich den NVidea-Treiber nutzen möchte, der dann auch Problemlos installiert und aktiviert wird.

Bei einer Aktualisierung des Treibers kann ich mich aber nicht an Probleme erinnern.

PS: Auch heute ist das Update problemlos durchgelaufen.

Kann ich heute Abend testen. Ich habe noch einen zweiten Rechner mit NVidia-Karte.
Da steht das Update noch aus.

Die vor der manuellen Neu-Installation vorhandene LOG-Datei meldete Probleme mit der Konfiguration der Kernel-Quellen und schlug ein "make oldconfig && make prepare" (oder so ähnlich) vor.
Bei dessen Ausführung wurde aber nur gemeldet, es sei nichts zu tun.

Wie stößt man die Herstellung des Moduls händisch an? Also ohne De- und Neuinstallation des Paketes.

Offensichtlich nicht, beim Update des Laptop meines Bruders trat heute Morgen das gleiche Problem auf.

Mir ist das schon bei Upgrade und Updates passiert.
Bei einem Upgrade am einfachsten vorher auf z.B. nv-Treiber wechseln und erst nach dem Upgrade wieder den Nvidia Treiber installieren.
Bei einem Update installiert man einfach den Nvidia Treiber noch einmal.

An diesem Punkt möchte ich noch etwas Werbung für die 32bit Version machen, denn seit ich zu dieser Version gewechselt bin, ist das Problem nicht mehr aufgetaucht.

Der erwartungsgemäß hängen bleibt.
Auf diesem Rechner, nach einer Fehlermeldunf bzgl.
"Failed to start Wait for Plymoth Boot Screen to Quit",

Es ist mit lsmod sichtbar, dass kein nvidia-Modul geladen ist.
